This is the parking lot for the Keystone Lodge. The pavilion you see is
the entrance to a walkway which goes underneath the road (to the right of
where the picture cuts off) to the main lodge. (Not the mountain house
mind you, not where all the slopes are.. the main lodge aka hotel..) I
always park here when im at keystone, because there're fewer people trying
to catch the shuttle there (at the lodge) than there are from the regular
parking lots, and obviously its much easier to get out of at the end of
the day... (if you really cared to know my reasoning.. :)
The actual slopes of keystone are around the mountain on the right side of
the picture. (see Keystone Trail
Map, or my ski page) Only the front face of
trails (if you look at the trail
map you'll see that there are three mountains at keystone..) is
accessable from the road.. you have to ski to the other two peaks... (the
one in the middle is North Peak, the one to the right (on the map) is the
Outback)
This picture was taken over winter break my freshman year, when my friends
Trevor Johnson, Allen Johnson (not
related to Trevor), and I went on a 5-day ski adventure to Keystone,
Breckenridge, and Arapahoe Basin.. (amazing trip.. we're going again next
year if i have anything to say about it. :) I think this was either the
5th or 6th of January... (we were there through the 9th to put that in
perspective..) And finally, if you were interested, Keystone is about 2
hours Northwest of the Springs, along I-70... Okay, enough about this
picture. :)
